Bach-Busoni, Chaconne, Toccata & Fugue in D minor
Chopin, Sonata No. 2, Op.35; Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op.22
Bach was Chopin’s musical God and his point of reference for compositional self-coherence. As in Mozart, one does not dare to wish a single note chosen differently, such is the perfection and integrity of the music. Busoni re-thought many of Bach’s masterpieces in pianistic terms, two of which, of high projection to the listener, act as ideal counterpoints to Chopin in this programme.
HH Promotions London has commissioned Ella Studio Wien to record a DVD of Carlo Grante performing this programme live in the splendid Ehrbarsaal in Vienna. This DVD will be available in 2014.
